This policy explains how Anvya AI Solutions Private Limited ("SocietyMitr", "we") collects, uses, shares and protects personal data when you use the SocietyMitr mobile app and related services. It is written to comply with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules.
What SocietyMitr does
SocietyMitr connects people who need home services ("customers") with independent professionals such as electricians, plumbers, cleaners and technicians ("professionals"). Customers raise requests; we send them to suitable professionals nearby; up to two professionals can accept each request, and each is put in touch with the customer, who chooses one of them and agrees the work directly.
Data we collect
Account: mobile number (verified by one-time password), name, and — if you sign in with Google or email — your email address and Google profile name and photo. Passwords are handled by Google Firebase; we never see or store them.
Requests (customers): the service you need, address and its map location, preferred date and time, your description of the work and any photos you add, and what you tell us about the outcome (for example, the amount you paid).
Professionals: profile photo, services offered, base area and travel distance, experience, one identity document image (masked Aadhaar with the first 8 digits hidden, PAN, driving licence or voter ID) and the last 4 characters of its number for verification. We do not collect or store full Aadhaar numbers, bills you upload, and commission payments.
Location: your device location only when you tap "Use my current location" or "Show work near me", to fill in an address or show nearby work. We do not track location in the background.
Device and usage: a push-notification token, app version and basic technical logs needed to run and secure the service.
Calls with our team: our operations team may call you about a request and keep notes of the call (for example, whether the work was done).
How we use it
To create and secure your account; to send requests to suitable professionals by service and distance; to share contact details between a customer and the professionals who accept their request (up to two); to follow up on requests; to calculate and collect commission from professionals; to verify professionals; to prevent fraud and misuse; to send service notifications; and to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Who we share it with
Between customers and professionals: before a professional accepts a request they see only the service, area, distance, date, description, photos and the customer's first name. After they accept, the customer's name, mobile number and full address are shared with that professional — up to two professionals per request — and each professional's name, photo, mobile number and rating are shared with the customer. When the customer chooses one, the other is told the customer went with someone else and the request is removed from their app.
Service providers who process data for us: Google Firebase (sign-in), Cashfree Payments (commission payments — card and bank details go directly to Cashfree, not to us), Expo and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (notifications), MSG91 (SMS), Cloudflare (file storage) and our cloud hosting and database providers. They may only use the data to provide their service to us.
We do not sell personal data. We share data with authorities only when the law requires it.
Identity documents of professionals are stored privately and are seen only by our verification team — never by customers.
How long we keep it
We keep your account data while your account is active. When you delete your account we remove your name, email, photo, saved addresses, notification tokens and, for professionals, services, bio and identity document references. We keep records of past requests, bills and commission payments (including the phone number on them) for as long as tax and accounting laws require — generally up to 8 years — and then delete them.
Your rights
You can access and correct your data in the app (Account), delete your account in the app (Account → Delete my account) or from our website, withdraw consent by deleting your account, and nominate another person to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity. To exercise any right, or to complain, contact our Grievance Officer below. You may also approach the Data Protection Board of India.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to personal data is limited to staff who need it. Identity documents are stored in private storage. No system is completely secure; we will notify you and the authorities of a breach as the law requires.
Children
SocietyMitr is not meant for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We will post any changes here and update the date above. For significant changes we will also notify you in the app.
